London has unveiled its Local Action Plan (LAP) as part of an ongoing participation process under the umbrella of the URBACT Markets programme.

The London LAP includes 28 proposals for making street and covered markets centres of enterprise and civic and cultural value.

Based on research and practitioner experience, the LAP is a reference point and guide for further discussion and action within the markets sector. These include briefings for local, city and national stakeholders.

The London Assembly have shown strong interest and will soon publish a short paper encouraging the Mayor to provide greater support to London’s markets.

Cross River Partnership’s publication ‘Sustainable Urban Markets. An Action Plan for London’ sets out the basis for supporting London’s markets further.
