Ian is a change leader specialising in city and social innovation and works across both public and private sectors. He is a Fellow of the RSA and has extensive experience in embedding innovation and leading business development and transformation for sustainable and integrated urban development. Ian is currently the URBACT Lead Expert for the Stay Tuned Implementation Network, has provided Ad Hoc expertise for previous Action Planning Networks and was previously the project lead for the Lead Partner (York, UK) in the Genius Open URBACT pilot transfer network. After working for the City of York Council for ten years in a wide variety of roles including Head of Innovation and Head of Business Change, Ian founded his own company to specialise in open innovation, collaborative co-production methods, small business support and leading cultural change within organisations. An accomplished coach and experienced in trans-national projects, Ian has worked with cities worldwide such as Tallinn, Barcelona, Cape Town, Gothenburg, Ghent, Berlin, San Sebastian, Syracuse and York, helping them develop and deploy problem solving models and culture which use open innovation and collaboration to deliver new solutions to their challenges.
