Preston’s Local Support Group was pleased to welcome its latest member, Dr Richard Weston from the University of Central Lancashire, to its meeting on 12th February. Dr Weston leads the Institute of Transport & Tourism and his work focusses on economic and social impacts. Besides becoming involved in the ENTER.HUB project, he is also working on the INTERREG IVB Citizens’ Rail project which seeks to develop local and regional railways by involving the community. This is another example of profitable exchange of knowledge between different european projects.

During their meeting, Preston’s ULSG members explored the theme of “Smart Cities, New Technologies”, in particular focusing on what its vision for an ENTER.HUB smart city might look like. Discussions ranged around the issues of better connectivity and new technologies forming a “network of networks” which would enable users to seamlessly access information as they move through the city.
