Nova Gorica
It was established and designed as a modern garden town with lots of rose plantations. Nowadays, city spatial arrangements differ from the original spatial designs, but nevertheless, Nova Gorica still remains as an example of a modern green city. There are public green surfaces that spread through the whole city and extend also beyond the state border, creating green cross-border systems.
The town of roses is an attractive town for entertainment and in all seasons various venues, indoors or outdoors, offer a rich selection of events. Concerts, festivals, theatre performances, fairs, exhibitions and other cultural, culinary and ethnological events enrich the lives of locals and guests. Nova Gorica is a also a gaming town where two entertainment centers and several casinos offer entertainment with the most modern gaming equipment. A pleasant atmosphere is complemented by excellent cuisine, accommodation and wellness services.
The municipality of Nova Gorica is a regional center, and sets itself the objective to follow the basic goals of sustainable mobility with energy efficient, spatially less costly, and environmentally less harmful forms of transport. It aims to become a lively, attractive area with a comprehensive and smartly woven network of various forms of mobility that enable the offer of all travel modes without the influence of administrative borders. It aims to no longer be a restrain, but to offer new opportunities for access, travel, socializing, business, growth and living.
The Municipality of Nova Gorica is already among the most active municipalities in the area of sustainable mobility in Slovenia. But in the analysis of the situation, it was found that, despite the progress made in recent years, the Municipality of Nova Gorica still faces a number of strategic challenges that are directly or indirectly related to transport. Although, transport is not an end in itself, it is a means of achieving broader goals. Therefore, the city municipality will sustain the efforts in addressing transport-related challenges and achieving the planned sustainable development.
