Civil servant in the city of Barcelona since 1983. Director of social projects (1995-2000), coordinator of the local council for environment and dustainability (2000-2008), communication deputy director of the Statistical institute of Catalonia (2008-2011). Txema has been involved in several networks and international projects, especially trough Eurocities (Social Affairs Forum) and ICLEI (promoting the Local Agenda 21 movement and the green public procurement).
