Soraya is an URBACT Alumni who now works as a consultant for UNITAR, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, to build governments' capacity to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). She specialises in integrated planning, stakeholder engagement and monitoring and evaluation for the SDGs. At URBACT, Soraya was in charge of capacity-building activities as well. Some of her tasks included the organisation of the 2016 URBACT Summer University, and the development of the URBACT Guide on the Results Framework. She also monitored the activities of URBACT's networks of cities, both to analyse their capacity-building needs and to extract important results to be disseminated outside the programme. Before joining URBACT, Soraya worked for over six years as Policy Researcher at EUROCITIES, the network of European big cities. She worked on a variety of urban issues ranging from policies to decarbonise local energy systems to decentralised cooperation and multilevel governance. Soraya studied political sciences at Sciences Po, Lille (France) and American University, Washington DC (USA).
