What could be the strategic framework for the decisions and the tools to be adopted to better control the type of developments?

DIFFERENTIATING INTERVENTIONS (RESIDENTIAL/ECONOMIC ACTIVITY).
REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT can be of different natures and meet expectations - sometime conflicting - of different stakehoders. Public Sector, therefore, shoud be able to control the specific nature of the development, to reach specific goals. With the recent economic downturn, the need to better "select" the nature of the real estate developments is remarkable, to avoid, on one hand, to admitt developments with no or negative social impacts and, on the other hand, to promote the models that, in the current situatiom, seem to be more promising in terms of long term economic (e.g. industrial/innovative and knowledge real estate development and redevelopment schemes) and social impact (social/affordable housing).
The meeting will mainly face the following questions: how to strategically and operationally "drive" and control the planning and development processes in order to achieve more "targeted" outcomes, in terms of nauture of the developments? What could be the strategic framework for the decisions and the tools to be adopted to better control the type of developments?

URBAN USES AND TEXTURES
With reference to many recent experiences in general town plans, the main question faced during the meeting is on how to develop urban planning schemes to overcome the traditional zoning approach and favour more flexible and resilient approaches to urban development.
Starting from the specific situations and needs of the UseAct partners, the meeting should broad the knowledge about the possibile solutions adopted in extra UseAct contexts and allow discussion about possible solutions of use for the partners.
