The URBACT Local Support Groups in the spotlights!
Edited on
09 October 2017The URBACT Local Support Groups (ULSG) are one of the key innovations in the URBACT II programme that aim to foster participative action planning at local level. Each URBACT partner is required to set up a Local Support Group gathering the local stakeholders concerned by the policy issue addressed by the network they are involved in. To learn more about the activities of the URBACT Local Support Groups, visit the new URBACT Local Support Group page on the URBACT website.
The main aim of the URBACT Local Support Group is to strengthen the impact of transnational exchange and lessons learnt on local practices and policies. More especially these groups have a special role in the production of the Local Action Plan (LAP) that each partner commits to produce at city level. After the end of the URBACT project, URBACT Local Support Group members have the potential to become a long-lasting legacy, follow up the implementation of the Local Action Plan, disseminate key messages to a wider audience, get involved in other similar projects.
The URBACT Local Support Groups represent a community of nearly 4 000 people around Europe. They include local elected officials, representatives of various local administrative departments, representatives of residents, NGOs, associations, etc. Their composition depends on the theme and on the type of project and partner involved.
