Delegates told how markets can be used to transform inner city neighbourhoods and create social cohesion.

Barcelona's Councillor for Markets, Raimond Blasi, has taken part in an International Conference organised by UN Habitat, the UN agency for Human Settlements. The conference held last June 26th in Stockholm was titled "The Future of Space", and the objective was to showcase new urban proposals to create social cohesion.
Blasi told an audience of urban planners and government delegates how Barcelona was using its markets model  to transform neighbourhoods through market renovation work.
He said that thanks to municipal policies aimed at boosting local trade, the city was also generating more cohesive neighbourhoods.
