OPEN DAYS WORKSHOP: A symphony for progress. Cooperation between the University and the City

11 February 2015The OPEN DAYS – European Week of Regions and Cities – is the most important annual rendez-vous for all those passionate about their region, city or community. Organised over 4 days, the event welcomes some 6 000 participants in October each year for more than 100 workshops and debates, exhibitions and networking opportunities in Brussels. The OPEN DAYS 2014 will be held under the slogan 'Growing together – Smart investment for people'.
URBACT is actively involved in the event and our network as well!
URBACT Eunivercities network will organize a workshop during the event, in collaboration with DG Education and Culture. The workshop entitled “A symphony for progress. Cooperation between the University and the City” is intended to be a valuable learning exercise for an audience. It aims to explore their potential as a university city by considering the contribution of universities to economic, social, cultural and environmental needs of their location. The session will introduce some general principles connecting universities and city regions that are applicable to a wide range of European situations. Representatives of contrasted medium and small-sized cities where higher education institutions are playing key roles as anchor institutions will present case studies to illustrate some of the general principles.
Target audience: - Members of the Committee of the Regions, the European Parliament and the European Economic and Social Committee and national, regional and local politicians - European, national, regional and local government officials and experts in the field of managing and evaluating cohesion policy programmes - Scholars and professionals from higher education institutions
