Vejle

Vejle is medium sized Danish city, and with its 110,000 citizens in the greater city area, it is the 6th largest municipality in Denmark. Within this municipality there are several towns and villages. The city Vejle and its urban core has approximately 54.000 inhabitants, making it the 9th largest in Denmark.

The population of the Functional Urban Area of Vejle is 54.500 per 31. October 2015. The size of the Functional Urban Area is 144 km2. In addition to the city center it includes the districts: Bredballe, Nørremarken, Søndermarken, Uhre, Uhrhøj and Vinding. 

 Vejle is part of a Scandinavian liberal democracy and the welfare model known as the “Nordic Model”. Within this model there are values such as openness, transparency, active and involving citizenship and high level of public service.

Vejle City has for many years been privileged with social, economic and environmental stability. But now new challenges arise, both environmentally and socially. The potential impacts of climate changes are emerging and a growing decline in welfare is also threatening the future life within the city.
