Torino active with Local Support Groups
Edited on
14 February 2017URBACT Markets partner Torino held its second plenary Local Support Group meeting just before Christmas at City Hall with 26 representatives from local stakeholders including trade associations, wholesale markets, council departments, political representatives and market traders.
The meeting allowed LSG representatives to get first-hand knowledge of URBACT Market Thematic Guidelines and see how these can impact on urban regeneration, low carbon economy, employment and entrepreneurship. The meeting helped sow the seeds for Torino's own Local Action Plan, especially in terms of re-designing the urban markets plan and creating a communication and marketing strategy to attract new customers to city markets. The event also saw participants debating how to explore connections with the CENTRAL MARKETS project, in which Torino is also a partner. Researchers at Politecnico di Torino presented an analysis carried out by its researchers on urban markets planning. On the 25-26 November, the ULSG coordinator at the City of Torino, together with three stakeholders, participated in the National Training Seminar for the Support Group Members in Naples organized by the URBACT National Contact Point.
