Bari

Bari is located on the southeast of Italy on the shores of the Adriatic Sea. It has an ancient history dating back to the Roman times. Studies show traces of civilization as old as 1500 BC.  The city itself has a population of about 325.000 inhabitants, but there are about 1.6 million people residing in the surrounding areas. Today it is an industrialized port city and also a significant touristic and culinary attraction.

Young people in Bari grow up in an environment of high unemployment and a serious cultural and educational gap between sections of the population. The main challenge is to convince young people not to choose a criminal career.

In participating in the My Generation thematic network Bari aims to learn how to steer young people into a job and gain better understanding of the flaws and merits of its current approach. Bari expects to find new experimental approaches that could apply to its local context.
