Find out more about UIA and URBACT web conference#2 on housing exclusion that took place on 26 June 2020.
As a part of a one-year learning activity on Cities engaging in the right to housing, Urban Innovative Actions (UIA) and URBACT organised a webconference on the topic of housing exclusion on Friday 26 June at 10.00 (CET)
Today, more European cities and social movements are calling governments at all levels to take responsibility for reaffirming housing as a right and not as a commodity. They are showing the way by trying out concrete actions to implement the right to housing.
This web conference #2 was dedicated to housing exclusion and the challenges of homelessness and migration. At least 700 000 people are homeless any given night in the EU, 70% more than a decade ago. The current Covid-19 crisis is deepending inequalities and putting more people at risk of exclusion.
This web conference offered a preview of the 2020 Report on Housing Exclusion in Europe, co-written by FEANTSA and Fondation Abbé Pierre, and featured UIA and URBACT city cases that directly tackle housing exclusion and discrimination with practical responses on the ground. We also discussed opportunities at EU level to address these issues.
The outcomes of this webinar will build directly on the European Urban Agenda Partnerships on affordable housing work, on urban poverty and on inclusion of Migrants and Refugees and will feed the set of actions and recommendations in terms of better knowledge among cities, also aiming at pushing the agenda on the right to housing EU wide.
