Częstochowa

The City of Częstochowa is located in the south of Poland, in the Silesian Voivodeship and has about 245.000 inhabitants and a size of 160km². Częstochowa is known all over the world due to the presence of the Holy Virgin Mary embodied in the icon of the Black Madonna in the Monastery of the Pauline Fathers. Every year the shrine is visited on average by 4-5 millions pilgrims from as many as 80 countries from all over the world. The City is a big centre with a well-developed infrastructure and a strong social and economic potential. In the City is accumulated above half of the economic capacity of the north subregion of the Silesian Voivodeship. The City and neighbouring municipalities pursue a wide cooperation in the range of sustainable, regional development.
