Last June 3 Barcelona celebrated its Municipal Markets Congress with over 270 specialists from the world of markets in and around Barcelona. The city councillor responsible for markets, Raimon Blasi, announced that Barcelona would start a new strategic plan for the city’s markets for the period 2015-2025. The move is thanks in part to the city’s participation in the URBACT Markets project, which requires partners to create a strategic plan in accordance with local stakeholder needs. The move shows that Barcelona is already benefiting from its participation in the EU URBACT project. Barcelona’s URBACT Lead Expert Agustin Filomeno also addressed the congress to explain the project’s progress.
