The Municipality of Zefyri is located in the district of Attica and is the easternmost part of the West Attica Prefecture of Greece, at the north of Athens. The original name of Zefyri was Zofria. Kato Zofria was declared a community in 1967 and was renamed to Community of Zefyri after the political changeover in 1974. Since 1991 the community of Zefyri evolved to the homonymous Municipality. According to the last census (2001) the usual population of the Municipality of Zefyri is 9.130 individuals. The percentage of population that belongs to the productive ages (15-64 years) is 67,83%. The working population of the Municipality is mainly part of the tertiary sector (55,24%) and secondary sector (28,86%). The unemployment rate raises to 14,62% and gradually gets higher within the youngsters. In addition, unemployment is even higher within Roma people that represent an important part of the city population (25%).

The Municipality of Zefyri gather a large number of young people,e specially from traditionnally excluded sets of populatuion. Dealing effectively with poverty, unemployment and illiteracy are the great challenges the city wants to tackle, in order to benefit not only to young people at risk of exclusion, but to the community as a whole.

In the framework of the InteGROW network, the city of Zefyri will involve stakeholders such as n Zefyri, Roma associations, NGO klimaka, Municipal counselors, and social services. The stakeholders mentioned above will work together in order to develop strategies for the social insertion of youth at risk of exclusion (especially Roma people) without excluding youngsters in general.

The key points in this process will be the intercultural dialogue, and horizontal communication among interested parties. We strongly believe that sharing strategies and good practices with other partners will promote effectively the purposes of our network.
