What is Making Spend Matter?

The process cities use to purchase goods, works and services is called public procurement. The Making Spend Matter project seeks to improve how public procurement considers more than just price to deliver wider benefits for their economy, their communities and the environment. But how does this concept work in practice?
In this video, Andy Ridehalgh, Procurement Manager at Preston City Council, and Johanna Deconinck, Project Officer for the Making Spend Matter project, talk about buying food to illustrate how the choices we make when we spend money, such as those based on price and quality, are important and can make a difference in our cities and communities.
