11 February 2021The Dun Laoghaire ULG hosted the first of four local webinars last December as part of their Tourism Friendly Cities Roadmap. These webinars are key learning activities for our ULG to familiarize themselves with a number of topics / activities taking place on our coast that link in with sustainable tourism.
The Dun Laoghaire ULG group was created to focus on the coastal region of the county and includes representatives from event groups, the sailing community, local town groups team members from the local council.
The 1st webinar held on December 15th was entitled ‘Coastal Capital Projects’ and explored existing and planned proposals for development along the coast. Topics covered included:
- Planed Tourism Coastal Projects
This topic covered all the upcoming coastal developments in coordination with Failte Ireland (Irelands National Tourism Agency) such as a Dublin Coastal Trail and lighting of significant buildings.
- Failte Ireland Dublin Coastal Development Plan
This speaker talked about research completed on the experience of visitors to our coast and key learning from this research.
- Current development of the Dun Laoghaire Baths Project
Update on the refurbishment of the historic bathing area and how it can be utilized in the future.
- Proposal for the development of a National Watersport Campus
The topic covered the aspirations of Harbour users to maximize our county key asset , Dun Laoghaire Harbour.
