Your attention please for a webinar to explore concrete practices and approaches in city centre revitalization in small cities in Europe.
We start in Italy in the city centre of Grosseto, a magical place on the coast of Tuscany, where a special experiment in igniting vibrancy in the city centre took place with surprising results. Discover how the Municipality decided to address the shutdown syndrome of local shops and the challenge of perceived insecurity with a social innovation project, Pop Up, harnessing the potential of collaboration between the Municipality and entrepreneurs to generate new urban dynamics and support local development.
We will continue our journey with a visit to the small city of Kočevje in Slovenia located in a wonderful setting in a large forest but facing challenges to attract footfall to the city centre. Using a placemaking approach the local stakeholders are experimenting with activities and interventions to make the public spaces more inviting for inhabitants. Finally, we will get an overview of the results and impacts from a previous URBACT project, the City Centre Doctor Project, where partner cities embarked on a number of interventions to revitalize their city centres.
We will then create opportunities for engagement and exchange between practitioners from all around Europe and we will inspire and get inspired by stories of urban regeneration and innovation. Join us!
