Valencia

Valencia is the third largest city in Spain with a population of about 810.000 in 2008. It is situated on the eastern coast of the country on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. An important touristic attraction, the city hosts a diverse architecture dating to Roman and Arabic times, but modern architecture is also well represented. Apart from tourism, the construction industry is an important part of the local economy. The city's port is the biggest on the Mediterranean Western Coast and the second of Spain in total traffic.

Valencia feels there is a lack of understanding of youth lifestyles and low involvement of the young in local community and decision making. Valencia wants to promote new links between city council and the young and coordinate better the various youth initiatives, and to tap into the potential of arts in employment. Through MY GENERATION Valencia wants to learn on youth involvement in local community and can contribute on experiences of a youth initiative. Key interest: Better coordination and employment.

Case Example

Each city must produce at least one case example, which best exemplifies, in their judgement, the MG activities and co-production with the young.
