B.1. Understanding of integrated and sustainable urban development:
Deep experience in the development of sustainable urban development projects. My studies in economics and humanities allow me to analyze problems and solutions from economic outlook also linked to people, their psychology or feelings. I have worked for over 10 years in all types of projects related to sustainable urban development, from design, project execution and management of a business park for social entrepreneurs (www.socialinnovationpark.com) to study for rehabilitation a nuclear power plant that never worked (http://elpais.com/diario/2002/03/07/paisvasco/1015533610_850215.html). It is noteworthy that in recent years the work related to sustainable urban development has developed from another perspective. Traditionally, all studies were carried out under the existing "heritage" in order to provide a sustainable income (economically and socially), however, with the crisis in recent years the approach of sustainable urban development has changed from a system based on "heritage" to an approach in which it seeks to activate economically a municipality or a region. With this new approach, I have extensive experience working for municipalities and regions. Examples include work in Enkarterri (www.20minutos.es/noticia/1712333/0/) Beterri (beterrikoinnoforoa.net) or Urola Garaia (www.uggasa.com).I would highlight 3 years collaboration with the MIT in a project called City car-Mobility on Demand (http://smartcities.media.mit.edu/pdf/Mobility_on_Demand_Introduction.pdf)

The last 4 years I´ve been involved in 3 EU Grundtvig and Leonardo projects in which I´ve been taking part in transnational learning processes in Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Scotland, Croatia and Portugal (http://t-isse.lascaux.it). Finally, I was university teacher in Deusto University for 5 years and I´m usually speaker in several international event every year.

I´ve experience also working under the public bodies perspective, so I worked in many projects contracted by regional governments trying to activate economically some special places/districts or heritage (see in my CV "Lemoiz Nuclear Power Station" or "El Karpin natural park"). Finally, during my working years for Mondragon Corporation (the biggest industrial and services cooperative corporation in the world), I worked as main researcher of some research projects linked with local economic development, new methodologies for local economic development and Rural local economic development for OECD, and in the last 5 years I´ve been researching new ways of policy design while I was Social Innovation manager in the Bilbao Social Innovation Park. This research gave me deep knowledge, references and contact about policy design, as Mindlab in Denmark or Ricardo Haussmann in Harvard University.
Expertise support to local authorities and other stakeholders in designing & delivering integrated and participatory policies
E.1. Knowledge on participatory methods and tools for co-production and implementation of local polices :
As said before, I have strong expertise on participatory methods, not only in application but in design of these type of methodologies and tools. Furthermore I´ve been promoter of Bilbao Social Innovation Park (SIP), the first Social Innovation infrastructure in Europe designed for launching social innovation projects. One of the main activities of the SIP was the design of G-Lab (Gizarte Lab in basque language, Citizen´s lab), whose aim was to design public policies with citizen´s participation.
E.2. Knowledge on integrated approach for the design, delivering, monitoring and evaluation of urban strategies/policies:
Deep experience in the development of sustainable urban development projects. E.3. Awareness of the main policy and funding schemes for sustainable urban development at EU and national level:
I keep me abreast of development policies, trends and funds through internet newsletters and subscriptions. Further along the years I have woven a network of contacts at national and transnational level to facilitate knowledge of any change or modifications.
E.4. Ability to understand specific local situations and adapt tools and content to different local realities:
As said before I´ve been part of several national and transnational projects where it has been necessary to adapt tools and content to different local real situations. As I explained before, The EQUAL ARIADNA project its a good example, because I had to work with disadvantaged people (ethnic minorities, immigrants, unemployed, …). Another type of transnational projects in which several tool and content adaptation has been necessary are Grundvit and Erasmus + projects, mainly because the culture, learning processes and educational systems of european counties are very different each other.
Summary Expertise:
I have strong expertise on participatory methods, not only in application but in design of these type of methodologies and tools. Furthermore I´ve been promoter of Bilbao Social Innovation Park (SIP), the first Social Innovation infrastructure in Europe designed for launching social innovation projects.
