URBACT Session at #SCEWC21

12 November 2021From November 16 to November 18, Barcelona will celebrate the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC21), the international summit of discussion about the link between urban reality and technological revolution.
Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) is the international leading event for cities. His mission is to empower cities and collectivize urban innovation across the globe. Through promoting social innovation, establishing partnerships and identifying business opportunities, the event is dedicated to creating a better future for cities and their citizens.
At SCEWC, URBACT will present two sessions:
UCLG and URBACT Meet and Greet on SDG Localization
1 hour and 15 minutes meet & greet event between UCLG and URBACT to exchange and transfer tools, methods and capacity building actions linked to SDG Localization at city-level.
On one hand, UCLG will be presenting the work they developed through their reports, and capacity building actions & tools through PLATFORMA. On the other, URBACT will be presenting the work developed within the SDG Localization Network and the results reached by the cities so far.
Moreover, there will be other institutions participating in the debate and exchange such us UN-Habitat, REDS (who developed the SDG Localization report in Spain) or Barcelona Deputation.
This will be a side event (warming up) for UCLG’s World Council.

Localizing SDGs in EU cities: URBACT’s learnings & results
There is an urgency for action at local level for the UN 2030 Agenda. 2030 is not so far away and URBACT new network on localising the UN Sustainable Development Goals will play an important role in accelerating the process.
Over almost a 2-year period, the URBACT programme, in partnership with CEMR, is supporting 19 cities of different sizes to learn from each other to reach the development goals for sustainable cities. The main objective of the network is for the pilot cities to exchange with each other and with other European and International peers, build capacities towards the localisation process of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their territories, and develop tools for localising the SDGs. The network also aims to strengthen synergies between URBACT, CEMR, EU & international organisations in pursuit of the same goals.
In this event, we will be presenting the results of the URBACT SDG Localization network (SDGs in Cities).
