URBACT City Festival 2018 - Save the date!
Edited on
19 June 2019We are excited to announce that URBACT’s flagship event – the URBACT City Festival – is taking place in Lisbon, on 13-14 September 2018.
Providing solutions to major urban challenges
How can we make our cities more equal? More welcoming to newcomers? How can we increase the attractiveness of our cities and fight unemployment? Make sure that they are prepared for the climate change and resilient? How can we do all that with less? The questions that the European cities are asking themselves seem to be ever multiplying and the urgency to answer them ever growing.
This is the backdrop of the third edition of the URBACT City Festival. It will bring you the work done in the past 3 years by 20 networks and more than 210 European cities. It will showcase the results designed and tested by these networks, acting as testbeds for smart and innovative solutions for the questions above and many more. It will also put the major challenges of urban development in a wider context – the urban trends that we are observing in Europe and beyond.
Event experience
Participants will be led through a two-day programme packed with structured exchanges and surprise encounters. They will hear about all the different urban initiatives and projects that will be presented and to exchange with the urban professionals directly responsible for them.
On-site sessions at Patio da Galé, the main event venue, will be mixed with off-site visits that will allow participants to better understand Lisbon and explore the different aspects of its recent developments.
Who should join?
Since 2015, the URBACT City Festival has been one of the main European events on the agenda of urban development. We’ve brought together all the people breaking new ground in urban thinking, be it hyper-locally or at the highest policy levels. We are expecting more than 500 people to join us in Lisbon for this event.
So, if you are an urban practitioner, a policymaker or an elected representative at local, regional, national or international level and you have something to say or to share, or you just want to learn, the Festival is designed for you. We are also interested in meeting smaller and mid-sized European cities, giving them the spotlight more often reserved for capital cities.
