University Of Reggio Calabria
The Department of Building Art, Science and Technique (DASTEC) includes faculty members from various areas of planning and architecture, and has been very active on the local territory in cooperation with the City and Municipalities.In particular, between 2000 and 2002 it set up a Pilot project for urban renovation of peripheral areas in Reggio Calabria.
The local situation of new and existing housing in Reggio Calabria is characterised by the lack of clear principles regarding sustainability standards.
Local action will therefore be aimed at drafting a Design code in close collaboration with the City Administration of Reggio Calabria, to provide guidelines on the environmental design of new housing complexes, taking however also into account the retrofitting of existing housing stock.
