Tulln

Tulln at the Danube - A Town in Harmony with Nature and Culture Tuln at the Danube lies in the largest province in Austria and thereby in the heart of Europe.  As the county capitol, Tulln is a pivotal location for the region as a vital economic, cultural and leisure centre with a well-developed infrastructure. Tulln offers everything-in perfect symbiosis and balance : town and country, architecture and open land, culture and nature. The small city atmosphere, the green towns areas and the ecological way of living guarantee high living, life and location quality. These are in harmony with the environment and nature. In the 7.221 hectare sized community, there are approximately 15.000 people living in the midst of diverse nature. Tulln lies directly at the Europe's largest river, the Danube. At the same time the town is interlaced with large green areas. The 450.000 mp alluvial area, wich is located close to the town centre, as well as a 300.000 mp sized relaxation and natural swimming lake are a nature and leisure time paradise for the entire community and for the many day guests and tourists. The town council, economics and population have a common goal : to preserve the ecological surroundings, develop them, and to make them useable for everyone. Through this concept, unique projects have been developed which optimally bind the natural and cultural variety of the town and its are. One example is mentioned here : The GARTEN TULLN, the first ecological garden show in Europe, was opened in 2008. It is surrounded by the Water Park Tulln, where the alluvial forest can be experienced intimately. The ecologically revitalised tributaries of the Danube and an attractive network of walkways promise a special leisure experience close to the city centre. The 5 kilometres long intricate waterways with their different shore and water plants can be explored by boat. Tulln is known as the flower city far over borders. It is host city on the yearly International Horticultural Show and has already won many national and international prizes for its flower splendour and life-quality.
Due to the development towards a "Sustainable Energy City" and the target to achieve a 100 percent renewable energy supply, Tulln is leading the way in the region Lower Austria and will be multiplier for suitable and feasible technologies as well as for new management and financing concepts in the field of renewable energy use and energy savings.
