Space4People reader on parking management and its main stakeholder groups
Edited on
24 August 2022This reader discusses parking management and the role of some main stakeholder groups to it. It is written for people of municipal administrations who want to engage in parking management and are looking for options and arguments: to address specific target groups and support them in parking management and avoiding parking conflicts. To use good arguments with key stakeholders like political decision makers to convince them on the benefits of parking management and how it can work out for them and the city.
The reader gives a short introduction to parking management. It then addresses the target groups of political decision makers, residents, retail and gastronomy, commuters, and companies. It does not cover all relevant target groups as such but concentrates on the ones that were of highest concern to the work of our cities in Space4People. Addressed needs and options to take are not exhaustive but showcase the experiences we had and the input we saw during our 2-year journey.
We believe that the reader is giving good advice and hints for taking advantage of parking management. As an efficient tool to steer demand for parking and car use as well as on how to manage parking as one of many use forms of public space.
We hope that the reader is useful to you for your work with parking management concerning the addressed stakeholder groups.
