South East Region of Malta

The South East Region of Malta (and its council SERC) is for the largest part one dense built-up area.

The main focus of work is built around the Councils of Tarxien and Paolo, who have recently developed mobility plans and start their implementation. All of Malta however is facing a heavy car dependency and the main aim is to create plans valid for the region and later on Malta to turn from car dominance to sustainable urban transportation.

Commuting in Malta is centred around the City of Valletta (which is part of the South East Region of Malta) and West-East connections centred around major transit, the airport, the Cruiseliner Terminal, the Freeport and Gozo connection.

The South East Region, as all of Malta, is actually provided with a dense and well serviced public transportation network
