SmartImpact experiences beyond Europe: Montreal

Manchester and Montreal have been successfully partnered in the IUC programme. The IUC programme uses a similar approach as URBACT projects and will ensure that our joint proposals will be worked into a Local Action Plan. Manchester & Montreal selected 3 themes for collaboration focusing on: Inclusive and sustainable economic growth; Smart cities and regional / urban innovation and competitiveness; Social inclusion and gender equality.

Manchester is particularly interested in how Montreal has created an economy with much less inequality than cities in the UK from an inclusive growth perspective.
The IUC programme will fund visits to each city to develop their joint action plan which will comprise of a blend of public, private and research partners. Manchester & Montreal attended the programme launch in Brussels on 10th November.
