The Municipality of Santa Maria da Feira is a local authority and is part of the Porto Metropolitan Area, Portugal. It has 216 km2, 21 parishes and 139 312 inhabitants.

The municipality has 216 km2, 21 parishes and 139 312 inhabitants. Approximately 70% of the population is concentrated in the age group of 15-64. The municipality is known by its castle, cultural events, inclusion policies and business attractiveness. The economy is characterized by a consolidated and dynamic industry, with the world's largest cork processing center and one of the largest national concentrations of footwear industry.

Santa Maria da Feira has a very dynamic and productive cultural, sports and recreational agents, constituted by almost 400 associations. Although in terms of participatory democracy there are several entities from childhood to elderly, such as Children Assembly, Young Mayor, Social Forums, Forum Senior, Time Bank and Volunteering Bank, there is a need to promote collaborative processes between established citizens groups and inside the different departments composing the city council. Need of simplified information, projects’ articulation, transversality and communication.
