13 June 2022The Association MoSt (https://www.most.hr/blog/konferencija-zajedno-znanjem), with headquarters in the city of Split, held the conference "Together with Knowledge" on 12 and 13 May. This non-governmental association, the members of which are part of Split’s ULG, was established in 1995 with the aim to provide concrete help and assistance at local, regional and national level to citizens in need and at risk of social inclusion and poverty.
Knowledge centers for social development such as the Association MoSt are civil society organizations, networks and alliances working in the fields of human rights, green policies, culture and arts, protection of the rights of people with disabilities, care for veterans and victims, youth, poverty, homelessness and social exclusion.
The conference, which was financially supported by the National Foundation for Civil Society Development, gathered experts and activists from various institutions and civil society organizations, as well as representatives of nine knowledge centers from different parts of the Republic of Croatia.
The main goal of the Conference was to open an engaging a strong-felt debate on the increasing poverty and social exclusion sharing knowledge and experience of participants, contributing to networking and disseminating information at all levels while working towards more effective public policies, social justice and developing services for those citizens who are most vulnerable.
During the conference Marin Kanajet, President of Permaculture Dalmatia Association and very active ULG member of Split, presented local initiatives on urban agriculture and the RU: URBAN project, explaining that it is precisely during the lifetime of this project that the first urban community garden will be established in Split. The city is also working at its regulations on urban gardens and during the forthcoming Transnational Meeting, which will take place in September, ULG members will be trained as Gardenisers.
Very productive ULG members in Split are really taking urban agriculture to a higher level altogether!
