Take part in Placemaking 4 Cities Network Final Conference to find out on improving the relation between people and public spaces in Loughlinstown, Dublin on 5 March 2015!

Placemaking 4 Cities is lead by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown (IE) and include partner cities of Eger (HU), Pori (FI) and Albacete (SP). Each of these cities was able to test and develop the concept of placemaking (creating an emotional connection to existing public spaces), that would result in producing sustainable places in which people want to work, live and relax. Emphasis was placed on community-led local development, where there would be a development of urban renewal projects with efficient participatory techniques.

The Final Conference is an opportunity to experience the design and implementation of initiatives in each city; the creative ways to engage and involve local communities; and the ability for cities to learn from each other and use ideas from other cities to change their own environments.

The conference program will create the opportunity for participants to hear from notable keynote speakers working on placemaking and urban planning. Results and lessons from each partner city will be presented, where participants will get a more in depth look at the methods and innovative ways used in the project. Furthermore, there will be the opportunity to participate and interact with experts, city representatives and other officials on issues such as: interaction between place designers and communities; community-led animation of public spaces; institutional frameworks to facilitate placemaking; and using new technologies to promote placemaking.
