B.1. Understanding of integrated and sustainable urban development:

Over the years I have been involved in the design and delivery of many European cooperation projects related to sustainable urban development challenges. Topics that I worked on in these projects included sustainable urban mobility, in particular cycling promotion initiatives, urban water and green infrastructure management, labour inclusion of minorities. I am supporting the organisaiton of the the European Capital of Culture Leeuwarden/Fryslân 2018 (NL) with the development of projects to integrate the legacy of this Capital year in urban and regional policies. Working at the national spatial planning agency in The Netherlands (2001 – 2005) where I was involved the development of the national urban and spatial planning strategy. At the Faculty of Spatial Sciences/University of Groningen (NL) I graduated as an economic geographer and studied urban and regional planning.

B.2. Understanding of exchange and learning processes at transnational level:

I have been involved as expert in the design phase of several European programmes for transnational cooperation. For the Interreg Europe 2014-2020 programme I supported the design provisions for transnational policy learning and capacity building. I also contributed to the development of the cross-border cooperation frameworks of the programme Interreg 2 Seas. For the URBACT programme I performed an ongoing evaluation of several pilot projects, resulting in recommendations for the transnational exchange process in URBACT III networks. I was contributed to the designed and delivery of many EU cooperation projects related on a range of regional and urban development topics. This involved developing and implementing a range of transnational learning methods, including peer reviews, workshops, capacity building and training, webinars, capitalisation studies and seminars.

B.3. Proficiency in English:

I am fluent in English. Communicating in the English language with both native and non-native English speakers has been a part of my daily work in the field of European cooperation for the last 15 years. Nearly all assignments I completed during this period involved delivery of all written products (publications, reports, applications, presentations) in English. During this period I have successfully completed assignments for clients in The Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Sweden and France, using English as the common language.
