Pesaro

The hill territory inland of Pesaro comprises the following municipalities: Colbordolo, Gradara, Mombaroccio, Monteciccardo, Montelabbate, Sant'Angelo in Lizzola, Tavullia. The chequered history of Pesaro down the centuries has left behind an interesting mixture of artistic and cultural tokens. Both in the city itself and in the towns and villages around the visitor can find reminders from different periods of history mingling to make up a veritable mosaic of artefacts and heritages: from Roman, Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, up to the 19^th century and the Liberty period. Outstanding pieces of this mosaic are the splendid examples of residential, religious, and military architecture to be found in attractive urban settings or among beautiful hilly landscapes.

Pesaro's main visitor resource is the sea, and the age-old tradition of hospitality connected with it, a tradition which has eschewed mass tourism in favour of selective, restful, high-quality visitor services. Pesaro has seven kilometres of fine sandy beaches, in part equipped and in part free, and the sea is shallow near the beach. A unique feature of Pesaro is the nearness of the sea to the old town centre, which makes it easy to get around on foot or by bicycle. The inland villages are also easy to reach. With the sea on one hand and hills on the other, visitors may choose any type of holiday they wish: seaside, country, sports; and they will find everywhere a variety of places to stay and events great and small for every age.
