Partners' new year's events!

The City of Messina and the University of Dresden celebrated 2018 with a series of consultation meetings and events.

The first partner to inaugurate the beginning of 2018 project events' and meetings has been the Municpality of Messina, that on the 13th of January organised a consultation meeting aimet atinvolving a wider number of stakeholder in the IAP consultation process. Many local actors working with migrants, along with migrants lead organisations and associations have been invited. The meeting saw the participation of Messina's Mayion renato Accoriti which demonstrated great interest and participation in the discussion. During the meeting the guidelines of IAP were showed. In particular the following items, identified by the Local Support Group, were treated: increase the “second welcoming” as well as the SPRAR model; improve skills for a good cultural mediation; improve the activities for second generations social inclusion; smash the prejudices. On the 25th of January the University of Dresen organized a consultation meeting aimed at sharing the draft of the Integrated Acion plan and targeting it on the challenges higlited by the ULG and discuss about the engagement of a wider number of stakeholders in the further development of the plan, as well as its inpact in the local context.

The meeting saw the participation of Irma Castillo, expert for the implementation of the integration programme at the Dresden Municipality, the presence of city representatives in the meeting has been a great achievement for the project as it shows the commitment of the key actors in building an Integrated Action Plan, that is shared and promoted by everyone as well as the will to ensure conitunity to the consultation process started within the project.

The discussion focused on Dresden's main challenge that is to say how to bring social cohesion and how the actions undertaken so far (ex. encounters: networks, festivities, volunteering; social consultations / adversary services from city hall; language courses, etc.) can be inproved to achieve a more effective and wider impact on local pupulation. The meeting ended with a reflection on how to overcome prejudices and stereotypes, after a discussion each representative engaged to provide before the next consultation meeting one page of initiatives and examples from her or his field of expertise, with the objectives to share and transfer experiences in between local initiatives and NGOs.
