  2. Urban – Rural

Main policy issue to be addressed in relation to the selected topics

The promotion and enabling of an effective transition towards regional food systems. Our project proposal encourages the creation of a network of European cities committed to designing food plans that extend from the urban and peri-urban areas through a bigger territorial area that facilitates an urban-rural connection.

Useful Information

Over the last decade food policy has increasingly begun to be integrated into the framework of European development policies, given the variety and complexity of existing problems and challenges in the area. In this context, an ever larger group of cities are promoting local food strategies in which a diverse and growing number of actors participate. However for the framework within which this activity occurs, to be efficient it requires a greater territorial scale, as well as an effective interconnection between local actors and poles. This approach enhances the generation of production and consumption environments founded on a base of economic, social and environmental sustainability and which is integrated into development policies. We are looking for cities interested in being members of our Consortium. If you would like to develop this challenge with us, please send a message to us.
