CITTASLOW – is International Network of Cities where living is Good. Anykščiai city also wants to achieve the status of "Slow City"! The main goal of Cittaslow, was and still is today, to enlarge the philosophy of Slow Food to local communities and to government of towns, applying the concepts of ecogastronomy at practice of everyday life. Municipalities which join the association are motivated by curious people of a recovered time, where human is still protagonist of the slow and healthy succession of seasons, respectful of citizens’ health, the authenticity of products and good food, rich of fascinating craft traditions of valuable works of art, squares, theaters, shops, cafés, restaurants, places of the spirit and unspoiled landscapes, characterized by spontaneity of religious rites, respect of traditions through the joy of a slow and quiet living. The certification of "Slow city" concerns the requirements for quality. Requirements are subdivided into 7 macro areas: 1. Energy and environmental policies; 2. Infrastructure policies; 3. Quality of urban life policies; 4. Agricultural, touristic and artisan policies; 5. Policies for hospitality, awareness and training; 6. Social cohesion; 7. Partnership. The Project aim is to exchange knowledge and experiences about CITTASLOW Network, to develop strategies and action plans that will allow cities to achieve the status of "Slow city".

Anykščiai is a small but exclusive Lithuanian city with about 9600 inhabitants. The area of Anykščiai is rich in natural and cultural heritages, forests, lakes and rivers. The status of the resort area was granted to Anykščiai district in 2007. On December 20, 2018, the Anykščiai District Municipality Council approved the 2019-2025 Anykščiai District Municipality Strategic Plan. One of the goals in the Strategic Plan for Anykščiai is to become the resort city, other goal – to achieve the status of "Slow City".
We are looking for a Lead Expert, Project Partners and a Lead Partner (we are loking for cities already included in the CITTASLOW Network, as well as cities that want to become part of the Network).
Together we can help citizens to slow the pace of life and to live more comfortable!
Please apay attention that only cities with no more than 50000 inhabitants may be granted the status of a Slow City.
