Topics

  1. Local Economic Development
  2. environment
  3. Local community inclusion and participation

Main policy issue to be addressed in relation to the selected topics

The network will focus on traditional markets as a driver of local economic development and urban regeneration. The following dimensions of the markets will be covered: • Market as a vibrant, modern alternative for shopping; • Market as a provider of environmental-friendly or green branded products (“farmers market”, local food production, short supply chains, km0 products, “slow” food, healthy food); • Market as a place for leisure activities (diversification of the offer – cafes, restaurants, cooking workshops, seminars, exhibitions, food festivals etc.); • Market as a community integration tool (community building, multicultural integration, inclusion of vulnerable groups); • Market as a cultural heritage object and guardian (historical building, culinary traditions etc.); • Market as a tourism attraction (heritage tourism, gastronomy tourism etc.). The project will capitalize on the results of previous projects, such as Markets (URBACT), Central Markets, MARAKANDA and Med EMPORION.
