The URBACT RegGov project is going to complete its programme of exchange and learning activities. The 9 project partners have been working relentlessly for three years looking for joint, effective and sustainable solutions for deprived urban neighbourhoods. The Final Conference of the project will take place in the City of Duisburg (Germany) in the Landscape Park Duisburg-North on 12 and 13 May 2011.

Led by the city of Duisburg, RegGov is working on regional governance and sustainable integrated development of deprived urban areas and exploring the role of regions as Managing Authorities as the key actor for mainstreaming this approach within convergence and competitiveness programmes. They focus on how to build a long term relationship between cities and regional authorities.  They argue that this becomes decisive for a successful development, implementation and funding of integrated urban development policies.

In the framework of this final conference, RegGov project will highlight the achieved successes, results and outcomes of its activities providing valuable support for policy makers and practitioners involved in tackling this challenge.  The Local Action Plans which have been developed will be released. Apart from the mayors and involved parties from the partner cities and their managing authorities, high-ranking representatives from the European Commission and the URBACT programme will participate.

The conference will be followed by an International Exhibition on Friday, 13 May 2011 organised by the regional city network "Socially Integrative City North Rhine Westphalia". All participants from the RegGov Final Conference are invited to join this event and to exchange on good practice of integrated development of deprived neighbourhoods. The RegGov network will present itself with its partners and actively take part in the debate, together with the Directorate General for Regional Policy, the European Commission and the URBACT Secretariat.

Participation is free of charge. Register by 24 April.
