Anargyroi-Kamatero gets Silver Prize at the Best City Awards 2016 Competition for the CITYMOBILNET project

06 December 2016The Municipality of Anargyroi-Kamatero was awarded on October 24th, 2016 the Silver Prize at the Best City Awards 2016 Competition in the category "Mobility and Transport" for the CITYMOBILNET project. More precisely, the Municipality presented its sustainable mobility initiatives, as addressed by Citymobilnet, as well as the updating of the City’s Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan. Additionally, the mutual learning and the knowledge sharing culture and experience sharing between partners were presented to the Review Committee and were positively accepted.
The Chairman of the Review Committee, Dr. George Patoulis, MD, (Mayor of the Municipality of Maroussi and Chairman of the Association of Greek Municipalities) welcomed in his opening speech "The positive sustainable response of the municipalities and their focus on principles of Sustainable & Green Urban Context”.
The award was received by Deputy Mayor for Citizens’ Needs and Youth Actions, Mr. Maxouras Theodore, on behalf of the Mayor of Agioi Anargyroi and Kamatero, Mr. Sarantis Nikos. Mr. Maxouras said that “this award further encourages the city of Agioi Anargyroi & Kamatero to continue undertaking such actions and improving the sustainable mobility for all citizens”.
The “Best City Awards” is a local governments’ focused event, in Greece, which rewards the best practices of smart, sustainable and economically viable local authorities. The Awards Ceremony was attended by Mayors from across Greece, Local Government officials, Regional Authorities, business executives, consultants and journalists.
