B.1. Understanding of integrated and sustainable urban development:
Architect, urban planner, and researcher at the UPCT - Polytechnical University of Cartagena (Spain) on the topics of the Integrated Urban Regeneration within the activities of the Sustainable City Chair, and in this framework I work in the field of regional, urban planning, and urban design through the development of co-design processes (involvement of urban actors), design of Action Plans, and enhancement of the Cultural Heritage (tangible or intangible). My experience was acquired through research and the development f activities at the EU level (projects), UNESCO World Heritage Centre (projects and strategies) World Bank (projects), private firms and international bodies that work in the field of urban and cultural heritage enhancements. I have strong professional skills in the development of strategies and systems for the management of the data and information (GIS system, Open Data) related to the urban context. Besides these technical aspects, I have also experience in the design and management of participatory processes with respect to urban planning projects. Since 2016, I was engaged in different projects of urban integrated regeneration and strategic planning as Cartagena Urban Agenda 2030 (Spain), Urban Regeneration for the Calle Mayor, La Union (Spain), co-design process for the regeneration of the Palazzo Roverella in Cesena (Italy), URBACT III MAPS network “Military Assets as Public Spaces”.
B.2. Understanding of exchange and learning processes at transnational level:
The projects developed during my professional experience (University research, International Cooperation, EU level – Program or Projects) have always included the component related to the transmission (exchange and learning processes) of the final outcomes, at the local level and international level. In this framework, I have developed the ability to organize “training modules” or participatory activities, able to engage a wider audience (policymakers, local authorities, technicians, association of citizens), and transmit the knowledge acquired in other contexts. These activities have always been supported by two approaches: the use of a catalogue of “best practices”, as a reference point in the process of exchange and learning of the knowledge, and the creation of a “learning by doing” actions to better spread the ideas. All activities have always been developed taking into consideration the final audience and the type of goal to be achieved: reproducibility of an experience at the local level; general introduction to a topic; provide technical knowledge growth, etc.
B.3. Proficiency in English:
In all the projects, developed during my experience, all the training activities or the involvement of the local actors (authorities, stakeholders and technicians) was held in English or French. Each activity was supported by the production of PowerPoint, Prezi presentations, infographics media, or handbooks aimed to the correct transmission of the contents (final result). In particular I have experience in the development of the final report of the projects using the layouts of the UNESCO WHC or World Bank. Working mainly in Spain I am able to handle written and spoken Spanish very well. From March 2019 to today, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I have acquired the knowledge to develop activities carried out in digital form (not present) thanks to the use of platforms for information exchange and shared co-design.
