For the Final meeting in Nantes (9-10th of April) Prevent partners had decided to give the floor to parents as central stakeholders of the project. They organized a European “Café des parents” in 2 parts, first through a debate during the plenary session and the second day in a more restricted format.

The parents said they had a dream that:
1. There’s trust between the schoolteam; the parents and the children
2. Parents and schools work together and reach common values
3. Parents are recognised as the expert on their child, teachers are respected as experts about the pedagogical programs. They find each other on an equal level. Cooperation between parents, teachers and child is essential to support the child
4. Teachers and parents are strong enough and have the competences to work together.

But they also talked about reality considering that
1. The way you are talked to or listened to as a parent mostly depends on the specific teacher. There is not a system that guarantees a good approach with every teacher.
2. There are no, or not enough ‘link-persons’ between the school and the parents, there should be money for more intermediation.
3. There is a lack of a systemic approach
