11 February 2015The attack against the newspaper Charlie Hebdo was a frontal attack against democracy and freedom of speech.
URBACT is working with cities in Europe to strengthen democratic processes through actions involving citizens, local communities and all interested parties.
In hundred of cities in Europe, thousands of people with different multicultural backgrounds and sensibilities are working together in URBACT networks respecting each others opinions. They identify together common challenges and through co-decision processes they look for common solutions. Debates and contradictory positions are the rules of the game.
The URBACT Secretariat wants to share its deep grief, its thoughts for the victims of the attack and its commitment to democracy and freedom of speech.
