Under the OPEN DAYS 2009 general motto 'Global Challenges, European Responses', the OPEN DAYS 2009 will be held between 5 and 8 October 2009 in Brussels and - throughout the month of October - in the form of local events in places all over Europe. OPEN DAYS 2009 top priorities will be the economic crisis and the fight against climate change.

In the space of just six years the OPEN DAYS, conceived and developed by the EU Committee of the Regions and the European Commission Directorate-General for Regional Policy, have become a key event at which cities and regions have provided practical evidence of their capacity for creating growth and jobs, implementing European Union cohesion policy in such a way as to achieve the best results. The event’s key objective is to facilitate exchange, debate and networking among Europe’s experts and decision-makers in regional and local development from the public, private and financial sector.

The programme of the seventh OPEN DAYS will consist of 125 seminars, workshops, debates and exhibitions for around 7,000 participants. More than 250 event partners have joined forces, among which 213 regions and cities from 33 European countries, and more than 600 speakers will be actively involved.

Jean-Loup DRUBIGNY , URBACT Secretariat Director, will be involved in the  workshop 07D06, which will take place on Wednesday 7 October 2008 (09:30 - 11:45, Brussels) and will be dedicated to "Ex-post evaluation 2000-06: How can URBAN make a difference?". Melody HOUK, URBACT Project and Capitalisation Manager will participate to the workshop 06C13, which will be held on Tuesday 6 October (14:30 - 16:15, Brussels) and will deal with "Capitalization and knowledge management for effective European territorial co-operation"

During the month of October, another 230 local events will be organised addressing an expected audience of 30,000.

Participation in the OPEN DAYS is free of charge. Registration to the OPEN DAYS events is obligatory and possible only online through the online registration system.

See you at the Open Days!
