Budrio

Budrio Municipality is crossed by the Regional rail system that cuts the territory in proximity of historic centre. The presence of cars inside historic centre is high. The creation of new pedestrian areas is a priority for a better living in the city centre, finding an agreement with Tradesman Association and residents.

Main Budrio characteristics from the social/demographical point of view are :

- Strong population increase (20% in the last decade)

- Age structure addressed to young generations

- Immigration level is 7.94 % less than Provincial average

The realization of residential expansion foresaw in the actual Regulation Plan a doubling of the historic centre urbanized area. This large expansion created the need for a general adjustment of services to citizens' needs.

Budrio is obliged to focus the attention towards primary services as nursery and primary schools, cultural and entertainment places (Theatre, museums, libraries, sport centre ...) parking in the historic centre, efficient  and environmental friendly public transport. Anew nursery school was inaugurated in 2006 and it is now in program a PV plant realization on the roof, in order to satisfy electricity need. The old theatre has a successful program activities, but hardly can be used during the summer period, due to its low insulation from outside heat. So, due to the high users level, it is urgent to find solutions to improve its interior climatic conditions, while taking into account the need to introduce technologies respecting artistic decoration, in agreement with the Provincial cultural heritage safeguard Body.
