3rd ULG Meeting in Udine

The 3rd ULG meeting for the Municipality of Udine took place on 6 April in Udine, in the city playroom.A fundamental step to organize the Playful Paradigme events for this Second Wave. All stakeholders with coordinators and experts discussed what, who, where and when, setting the stage for further events.

Discussion on the ULG steps according to Udine Transfer Roadmap

4 possible spaces where to work in an vision of playful tactical urbanism have been identified:

- Municipal Ludoteca Garden

- Via Del Bon Area (already equipped with a basket and football pitches, benches and small playground)

- Multi-ethnic area near the train station where Time for Africa organization already works.

- Area dei Faggi, a gated municipal space with bocce playgroung and didactic vegetable gardens

The idea is to keeping work on all the 4 modules foreseen by the transfer methodology but the first one PLAY for SUSTAIBABLE URBAN REGENERATION will be used as common base for the development of the other three modules. Infact UGL will develop their activities in marginalized area which need to be upgrated. The activities implemented in the spaces will work as pilot projects, as a starting point in the process of urban regeneration of them. Infact as the placemaking filosophy state: start quick, start light, start with petunias. There is no need to start with infrastructures to upgrade a space, you can start with developing activities, test the needs of the space and get a communityto use the space.

The modules will be organized as follows:

PLAY for INCLUSION & PARTICIPATION a tool for SUSTAINABLE URBAN REGENERATION
PLAY for EDUCATION, a tool FOR SUSTAINABLE URBAN REGENERATION
PLAY FOR HEALTH AND WELLBEING, a tool FOR SUSTAINABLE URBAN REGENERATION

Out of the 4 places listed, 3 will be chosen and each place will be linked at one of the three modules.

The ULG will decide which space to choose and hoe to match them to the modules.

A hypothesis imagined during the meeting should be:

Space near Udine train station >> PLAY for INCLUSION & PARTICIPATION a tool for SUSTAINABLE URBAN REGENERATION

Municipal Ludoteca Garden >> PLAY for EDUCATION, a tool FOR SUSTAINABLE URBAN REGENERATION

Via Del Bon Area >> PLAY FOR HEALTH AND WELLBEING, a tool FOR SUSTAINABLE URBAN REGENERATION

An event will be organized in each space/module. The first event should be organized on May 28th, 2022, in occasion of the International Day of Play.

The ULG will take care of the organization of the 3 events with the support of Municipality of Udine for light logistic.

It’s foreseen to check the availability of the Ludobus ih the days of the events or in general to include these spaces in the Ludobus calendar to promote the use of the spaces.

The ULG will shape the activities of each event according to the Udine transfer roadmap.
