Want to learn how cities are integrating health and safety features in their model for sustaining sustainable tourism?
Join us Thursday January 28th, 2021, between 10:00 and 11:00 CET, for an e-panel discussion with top European key city policy-makers and innovators. The online event takes place in the framework of URBACT Tourism-friendly Cities network fifth transnational meeting. The e-panel discussion aims to identify adaptations of tourism destinations so far in terms of health and safety and their effect on industry, residents and the city since the outbreak of the pandemic.
The conclusion of the e-panel discussion will contribute to TFC overall work in understanding systemic implications for the future sustainability of tourism, as well as future advocacy work of the network at European level for public policies related to tourism.

Laura Gaggero Deputy Mayor for Economic Tourism Development and Territorial Marketing Policies for the development of tourism and relations with Bodies and Companies operating in the Territorial Marketing sector. Graduate in Public Relations at the IULM University of Milan, Executive Master Management of ebusiness (MEB) at the Politecnico of Milan, management consultant in strategic communication and marketing, she collaborated in different production sectors with the most important business groups both locally and nationally.
Dr. Miia Palo is a chief medical officer in Lapland hospital district. She coordinates the networks in health care in Lapland hospital district area and is in charge of primary health care in Muonio and Enontekiö municipalities. She has a long history of managing and developing integrated person-centered sevices in different positions in municipality, county and ministry level. The motivation to her work comes from commitment to benefit the health and wellbeing of the people in Lapland .
Jane Stacey - As Head of the Tourism Unit, Jane is responsible for the work of the OECD Tourism Committee, and its Working Party on Tourism Statistics. The OECD work on tourism helps member and partner countries develop integrated policies to address major challenges faced by the sector (e.g. digital transformation, competitiveness, quality jobs and skills, innovation, sharing economy, travel facilitation, taxation), engage reforms in tourism building on in-depth policy analysis (e.g. Mexico, effective policies for tourism growth), improve measurement and analysis of tourism services (e.g. Tourism Satellite Account, competitiveness indicators, tourism trade in value added, impacts of tourism at regional level), and enhance international co-operation in tourism.
Andrea Verdiani, Head of the Commercial Office - Marine Stations S.p.A., is responsible for statistical studies, development projects and external relations. He also manages the Meet&Greet service for passenger ships, with a total staff of more than 100 employees. Graduated in Modern Literature, with a Master in Ports and Logistics, he has been working in the company since 1994: before becoming head of the Commercial Office he worked for several years in the operational sector of the Company, acquiring transversal knowledge in various business sectors.
Nur El Gawohary, Journalist since 2006, he has worked in radio, television and for various magazines. Aviation enthusiast. Since January 2016 he has been press and external relations officer for Genoa Airport, for which he also manages the digital and social channels. He coordinated the Genoa local group during the European Urbact-Interactive Cities project. He never misses the opportunity to travel.
Anamaria Vrabie is the URBACT Lead Expert for Tourism-friendly Cities APN (URBACT III) with responsibility for governance, local development and urban innovation. A native of Bucharest, she has set up and created new modes of action for delivering municipal innovation and has produced work for a range of organizations including the World Bank, the Urban Development Network and the Urban Innovative Actions programme.
