Krakow Metropolis Association

The Krakow Metropolis is an association of Polish municipalities which constitute the Krakow Functional Area (CFA), which strengthens cooperation for solving common problems.

It is an area with strong functional connections between the capital city of the region and the surrounding municipalities. The Association is an organization of local government units - the City of Krakow and 14 neighbouring municipalities, that creates and institutionalizes a platform for cooperation of associated municipalities. The Krakow Metropolis Association is composed of 15 municipalities and 1.1 million inhabitants. The area of this territory is 1275 km2.

The main goal of the association is cooperation for the sustainable development of the Krakow Functional Area aligned with improving the quality of life of its inhabitants, through improving the state of the environment and promoting environmental awareness in order to implement the principle of sustainable development.

Moreover, Krakow Metropolis is a forum where municipalities agree on common development policies and participate in an on-going problem solving process.
