The European Committee of the Regions is offering a selection of young politicians, elected at a local or regional level, the opportunity to take an active part in the European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels from 7-10th October 2019.

Specific programme

The young elected politicians selected will be able to network with other politicians at European, national and local levels present at the event; receive information on EU programmes for cities and regions and actively take part in the discussions taking place. The draft programme specifically designed for them can be found here .

Within this framework, the URBACT programme is organising a training session on ‘How to engage local stakeholders in policy and decision-making’ at the Committee of the Regions on 10 October 2019 from 11.30 to 1pm. This session aims to build the skills and capacities of Young Elected Politicians in the successful design and implementation of local policies or strategies. It will focus on how local leaders can engage with different local actors and citizens to come up with a shared and integrated strategy and actions for their territory. After using URBACT-tested tools and methods participants should feel more confident in applying them in their local contexts.
