Łódź ULG - show that we're here and we're acting

05 June 2019In April and May, members of the Łódź Urbact Local Group participated in three important events: the 2nd Cultural Animators Forum "Hauzerak on the paths of animation", a nationwide meeting of representatives of Revitalization Committees and a conference summarizing social revitalization activities organized by the Revitalization Bureau of the City of Łódź. These events became an opportunity to present the group's activities to a wider audience and to present mediators whose work is one of the foundations of our transfer network.
The 2nd Forum of Cultural Animators took place in Łódź on 04-06.04.2019. The meeting concerned the exchange of experiences connected with conducting animation activities in the backyards. It was also an opportunity to discuss streetwork, working with seniors and disadvantaged people in their places of residence. Persons participating in the event had the opportunity to feel the atmosphere in revitalized s
paces of EC1 and in the backyards of Łódź. One of them, located in the area of ULG's activity, on the occasion of the guests' visit turned into a "courtyard of inventors and discoverers". Listening to fairy tales and making blocks together was not only great fun, but also a chance to strengthen relations with the residents. The meeting was also an excellent occasion for the members of ULG participating in it to learn new ways of engaging residents in local initiatives through social and cultural animation.
A week later, also in Łódź, a nationwide meeting of representatives of the Revitalisation Committees was held. On Saturday, 13 April, members of the Łódź ULG took part in a discussion panel entitled "How to involve residents in the revitalization process? The meeting was an opportunity to exchange experiences in the field of communication with residents at various stages of revitalisation activities.
At the beginning of May there was a conference "Łódź Revitalizes - Social Activities Made to Measure" summarizing the activities and materials developed by the City of Łódź during the Pilot Project II entitled "Development of a model for urban revitalization in a selected area in the City of Łódź - stage 2". Within the framework of this project, among others, area hosts and lighthouse keepers were employed - people with a high level of social competence - who started working with residents in the areas of revitalisation. Their work and model of functioning is one of the three main elements of the transfer among our partners. It was also one of the most interesting topics among the representatives of other cities, universities and NGOs participating in the conference.
The establishment of ULG in Łódź was received with enthusiasm, which gives a great dose of motivation for its development.
